We
moved to Paramus in October of 1960...my dad was the pastor of the
Paramus Community Church and was called to fill that position. I
began school after the year had already started plus had to go to
school with crutches and a cast on my leg...it was awful being the new
girl plus having a cast...I was sure it wasn't a very good first
impression. I didn't have any connection to an
yone in school at first,
just sort of took up space for my sophomore year. By the next year, I
had made friends and really started to enjoy being in Paramus. Had a
boyfriend, Johnny Gargano, class of 62, until his graduation.
I
remember having a wonderful senior year...lots of fun and friends . .
. trips to Sloatsburg . . . I didn't turn 18 till our graduation day
so I got to sit in the car one of those nights with john Robinson and
Sue Hays . . . together we polished off a big bottle of screwdrivers
then later on that night I threw up on Barry Holt. That's one of my
memories...Then of course, there was the senior trip . . . Yes , I
happened to be in the roomful of girls who hosted Frank Wojno. I have
bits and pieces that I can fill into that whole story and I also know
who told!! However, I think that everyone has had their fill of that
one! Had a lot of girls stay overnight at my house on graduation
night because it was my birthday and my usually strict parents wanted
to make it special for me. That was also a fun memory, I have a few
pix to prove it.
After high school, I went to Roanoke, Va. to attend nurses training
but was so homesick that I returned home after a few months. Later I
entered training again at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Worked
there after grad. but eventually headed to New York state where my
family had moved. I had a lot of fun traveling, worked for one winter
in Clearwater, Fla. also did a short-term medical assistant job on the
set of a Paramount Production . . .
have had a wide variety of nursing
jobs. Finally, at age 26 - almost 27, settled down and married Tony
Baldomir, a Vietnam vet and a respiratory therapist.
We
have 2 sons - Jason, age 30, married to Chrystal for 3 years and has
his masters in Biology . . . works now for Glaxo Pharm, and our
youngest son - Joel. Joel lives in Nyack and is adjunct professor for
Nyack College, has a girlfriend, Julie. I presently work for the
Plattsburgh Health Center as their case coordinator/referrals
nurse...25-30 hrs wk. Tony manages a home care store for
hospital/oxygen supplies and treatment. We live in the oldest house
in Morrisonville, NY, built by Daniel Morrison in 1805 which sports
one of those historical signs out front. So if anyone comes up our
way, we'll be happy to give you a tour, free of charge!!
I
attended my very first class reunion this past Sept. 20th with my good
sport husband in tow . . . I had a wonderful time seeing all of you
since I left Paramus and never had gone back until this year . . . The
reunion has opened doors for me to talk to many of you and I'm deeply
sorry I didn't do it sooner but tremendously grateful that I've found
you all again.
